Documented works and earlier exhibitions

The Museum of Modern Art records Sturges’s Untitled (1984) as a gelatin silver print that is not on view. Its record links the work to installation histories for Pleasures and Terrors of Domestic Comfort in 1991 and Open Ends in 2000–2001. These are historical exhibition records; they do not establish a current show.

The Spencer Museum of Art artist record lists four works and seven historical exhibition entries, including The Body and the Lens: Photography 1839 to the Present and a 2009 teaching-gallery presentation. Its exhibition dates likewise describe past displays.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art catalogues a 1989 Sturges print as not on view, with no image available on that record. A museum owning a photograph does not mean that the work is currently exhibited.
